Women have attained great feats and contributed to the realms of nephrology across the globe. Their work towards clinical and research-based enrichment of the subject has been exemplary. An offshoot of the International Society of nephrology, Women In Nephrology was founded in 1983 and has successfully helped women to nurture their careers in this field.
India has had Dr. Vidya Acharya as the pioneer among female nephrologists, She was not only the 1st women nephrologist in India, but 1st women president of Indian Society of Nephrology, the founding member of Indian Society of Nephrology and Indian Society of Organ transplantation and one of the first few women across the globe with significant contribution in the field of Nephrology. Now, with over 400 women nephrologists in the country, Women in Nephrology (WIN) intends to extend its branches in India (WIN-India). With the core concept of igniting interest in nephrology among young practitioners and effectively and meticulously mentoring them, WIN-India endeavours to unite the young lady nephrologists of the country and help enhance their knowledge through the immense experience of the veterans.
WIN-India would buttress the careers of aspiring nephrologists across the whole country.
